Short version: Tidal Reef does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Your reef data stays on your device.

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Tidal Reef handles your information. The short answer is that it doesn't — all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere.

Data Storage

All data you enter in Tidal Reef — tank readings, water change logs, parameter targets, reminder settings, and app preferences — is stored locally on your device using on-device SQLite storage. This data never leaves your device except when you explicitly choose to export a backup file using the Backup feature.

No Data Collection

Tidal Reef does not include any of the following:

Analytics or crash reporting SDKs
Advertising networks or tracking pixels
Account creation or user authentication
Server-side storage of any kind (in v1)
Third-party data sharing of any kind

Backup Exports

When you use the Backup feature, the app creates a JSON file containing your reef data and presents the iOS Share Sheet. You choose where to send it — iCloud Drive, email, AirDrop, or any other destination. This action is entirely at your discretion and the app has no visibility into where you send the file.

Network Access

Tidal Reef does not require an internet connection. The app may make network requests in connection with In-App Purchase processing via RevenueCat when Pro tier features are activated. These requests are subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy. No reef data is sent during this process.

Notifications

If you enable testing reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. These are processed entirely on-device — no notification data is sent to any server.

Children's Privacy

Tidal Reef does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data at all, it is appropriate for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. For material changes, a notice will be included in the app update release notes.
